Datel's SDML Update Disc Coming Soon
Gnimm has informed us via a post which contains an email from Datel ( Code Junkies) that they will soon be shipping out a new SDML disc compatible with the Nintendo Wii's latest firmware. The recent firmware blocked discs like this from booting.
The SDML is like the SD Gecko as it's an adapter that allows you to use an SD Card in your Nintendo Wii/GC using a memory card port. The device allows you to boot homebrew which is stored on a normal sized SD card.

Yeah, I'll let everyone know when my replacement arrives.
The important thing here is that everyone who spent $60 on this product SHOULD get a free replacement, and non-modders will have one more option for running homebrew on their Wii.
Also, I would encourage everyone to e-mail Codejunkies like I did. If there's a free update disc to be mailed, I can guarantee they're only going to send it to you if you bother them.

Oh, and thanks for making people aware of this.
Super Mario Galaxy is a fantastic, must-play game, but I wasn't going to lose my ability to try homebrew because of it.

wouldn't nintendo just block it again in the next firmware update, or maybe they found a way for wii not to detect the title of the gamecube game.

Well that depends on what the new discs id-tag is, maybe thay have used some games id-tag that Nintendo would never block (zelda: twilight princess gc)?

Until Nintendo releases other firmware update that bricks it
Furthermore not all the people are receiving an e-mail about it being replaced. Only people who are complaining too much
The best solution to run homebrew would be the Gecko loader. A no soldering solution that can't be bricked with firmware updates. You can learn more about it in the USB Gecko thread: http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showt...ight=usb+gecko

Awesome!
So it's still a Gamecube disc? And does it run with more frequency than the original?
By that I mean that sometimes the Wii has trouble accessing the disc and you have to restart the original, but does it read better this time?

My replacement mini dvd came today also,i didnt email them i phoned Datel's UK office friday after reading this thread and they said they would kindly send out a free replacement which they did .in fact they called me back as thier tech guy was busy.cant get better service than that.
The disk looks the same as the one that came with my SD launcher pack( says SD launcher on it),but when booting from it the on screen message says action replay, where as the original said SD launcher, once the program is started its the same,so i guess its just the loading logo wrong, either way im well happy as i can now boot my .dol's again

Sure ,hope they ok as my camera's pants and my editing skills leave a lot to be desired.Basically it looks like they have dropped the SD launcher and are just going with Action Replay,Either way im more than happy as i now have action replay funtions aswell instead of just a SD launcher.

Stigmata, does the Action Replay part of it allow you to enter new codes into it?

ok just tested the action replay part of the disk and i cant see anywhere that will allow me to enter codes,i fired up the new SD launcher, added a few cheats for super mario sunshine(gamecube disk),as i enabled the cheats a blue bar slowly fills along the bottom of the screen called Code Meter ,started the game and the cheats worked.

Sorry, not sure I quite understand, but are you saying that the SD Media Launcher part of it can be used to enter new codes? If so, that's great!
Gnimm: I'm not sure, but from a search, they are headquarted in the UK and USA.

I bet they have done this for people who want to send all 3 discs back like freeloader, AR, Sd media, they just will send the one back.
I will make note to send all 3 items back on individual dates, i have been screwed by datel with there products enough times.

uaq719340: what i meant was i loaded the disk they sent me,then removed the SD memory card, the screen changes to the action replay screen.then selected the cheats, you cant enter your own code numbers, theres just a list of cheats to choose, while its in SDLauncher mode(with SD card in) you cant enter codes.
[michael] i cant read the disk iso header mate, disk read errors.

Any chance you could rip a .dol of the new version with sddvd-01g or DVDtoSD0.1.1, I have the old European version with 07011801, 1FPI LL31 on the bottom of the disc which is recognized as NHL HITZ 20-02 Loader Date: 2001/09/08 with GCOS.

If you can run dols you should really use SDLoad, as it's better than Datels SD Media Launcher.
